Fellowes Powershred Personal

 

The Fellowes Beswick Powershred Personal range covers eight compact, manual-feed shredders designed for individual home and personal home office use.

Security levels run from P-3 (63Cb) through P-4 (all others), with cut types including cross-cut and mini-cut. Sheet capacities range from 6 sheets (3C, P30C) to 12 sheets (LX200), and run times from 3 minutes (3C, P30C) to 10 minutes (LX200).

All models shred staples and credit cards. Safety mechanisms vary across the range, some use Safety Lock (manual disable), others use SafeSense (automatic hand detection). What Is the Difference Between the Cross-Cut and Mini-Cut Models?

All seven cross-cut models in this range are P-4, producing particles between 4x34mm (P30C) and 4x50mm (63Cb at P-3). The LX200 is the only mini-cut model, producing 4x12mm particles at P-4 – over 1300 per A4 sheet versus 390 to roughly 500 for the cross-cut models.

 

Cross-cut models (3C, 53C, 60Cs, 63Cb, M-8C, LX65, P30C):

  1. Cut particles range from 4x34mm to 4x50mm.
  2. The 63Cb at 4x50mm is P-3, the largest particles in the range and lowest security level.
  3. All other cross-cut models are P-4, with cut sizes between 4x34mm and 4x40mm.
  4. Bin style varies: some use lift-off heads, others use pull-out or wastebasket bins.
  5. Suitable for general household document disposal and moderate POPIA-compliant destruction.

 

Mini-cut model (LX200):

  1. Cut size: 4x12mm, producing 1299 particles per A4 sheet.
  2. Security level: P-4, same level as the cross-cut models, but significantly smaller particles.
  3. The only model with IntelliBAR and 100% Jam Proof System in this range.
  4. 10-minute run time, the longest in the Personal range.
  5. Pull-out bin (not lift-off head) – easier to empty.
  6. More appropriate where POPIA compliance requires a higher standard of personal data destruction than standard cross-cut provides.

 

Under POPIA, cross-cut at P-4 is generally accepted as a minimum for personal information destruction. Mini-cut at P-4 offers substantially smaller particles, making it harder to reconstruct shredded documents, and is the better choice for sensitive personal or financial documents in home and personal office environments.
